Firecrackers

Firecrackers are a small explosive device. When they are lighted they will produce a large noise.

Their size varies from 2cm to 30cm or over. They are a cylinder and usually are made with red paper or multicolored paper. They have fuses and are wrapped in heavy paper casing to contain the explosive compound.

Chinese people have used them for more than a thousand years. Firecrackers are used at events such as opening of business, Chinese New Year, marriages and funerals etc. They were used do derive away evil spirits in ancient China. In modern time, they are mostly used during the festive season.

Burning of firecrackers is a Chinese tradition. It is passed down from ancient China to today.
