The city of Tianjin

Tianjin is the third largest city in China and it is also one of the four municipalities of China. It has a population of about 9.33 million. Among 5.56 million are urban and 3.76 million are rural. It is located in the north of China. The Hai He River passes through Tianjin urban area. The Yanshan Mountains are in the far north of Tianjin.

Tianjin's climate is a monsoon- influenced humid continental climate. Which means very hot, humid summers, due to the monsoon, and dry, cold winters. Its Average high temperature is 2°c in winter and 31°c in summer. People fish in the Hai He River during the four seasons of the year, and swim in summer, skate in winter.

Tianjin has big manufacturing industries. The major industries include petrochemical industries, textiles, car manufacturing, mechanical industries and metalworking. It is also one of China's most important salt production areas. Wheat, rice and maize are the most important crops. Fishing is important along the coast. It also has many deposits of resources such as petroleum, geothermal energy, manganese and boron.

There are hospitals, schools, universities, art galleries, a very ancient historical street and many museums in Tianjin. Guifaxing mahus and Erduoyan are the famous snacks of Tianjin. Tianjin is also famous for the yangliuqing paintings, Zhang's clay figurines and Wei's kites.

The people of Tianjin are warm and friendly. It has many sister cities in the world.

What is Guifaxing mahus? Maybe you could write a recipe and publish a picture. Can you find restaurants that serve Tianjin cuisine in Sydney?
