If I were an animal

If I were a bee, I would be very busy. I would collect honey around flowers every day. I could fly free in the fields. My job would be very important, because humans like honey , it is healthy food. People could use my produce to make a lot of healthy products, such as royal jelly, biscuits, soap and shampoo.

The city of Perth

Perth is the capital of western Australia. It is situated in the south-west corner of Australia. It is one of the sunniest cities in the world. It has a population of 1,340.000.

there are four universities in the city. There are many students in there. Perth is the cultural centre of western Australia.There are several museums and art galleries. There are many kilometres of cycle track. Many people cycle around the city on the weekend, Because most of the city is flat. The people who live there are friendly. Their life is relaxed. They live outdoors sports such as biking and swimming.

Its average temperature is 29°c daytime, 17°c night in summer, and 18°c daytime, 9°c might in winter. There are an average 8 hours sunshine per day.

It has many clean, beautiful beaches. People can swim, surf, boat and fish. There is grape growing and mining in there. This makes Perth a popular tourist destination for people who prefer a peaceful holiday.

The city of Tianjin

Tianjin is the third largest city in China and it is also one of the four municipalities of China. It has a population of about 9.33 million. Among 5.56 million are urban and 3.76 million are rural. It is located in the north of China. The Hai He River passes through Tianjin urban area. The Yanshan Mountains are in the far north of Tianjin.

Tianjin's climate is a monsoon- influenced humid continental climate. Which means very hot, humid summers, due to the monsoon, and dry, cold winters. Its Average high temperature is 2°c in winter and 31°c in summer. People fish in the Hai He River during the four seasons of the year, and swim in summer, skate in winter.

Tianjin has big manufacturing industries. The major industries include petrochemical industries, textiles, car manufacturing, mechanical industries and metalworking. It is also one of China's most important salt production areas. Wheat, rice and maize are the most important crops. Fishing is important along the coast. It also has many deposits of resources such as petroleum, geothermal energy, manganese and boron.

There are hospitals, schools, universities, art galleries, a very ancient historical street and many museums in Tianjin. Guifaxing mahus and Erduoyan are the famous snacks of Tianjin. Tianjin is also famous for the yangliuqing paintings, Zhang's clay figurines and Wei's kites.

The people of Tianjin are warm and friendly. It has many sister cities in the world.

New Zealand and Australia

I lived in NZ for seven years. The people of NZ are very friendly and kind.Last Christmas my children and I went to NZ to visit my husband.

Sometimes my son wanted to go to the library so I took him to my local library.I didn't have a library card so every time my son just read in the library. One time I tried to ask the library staff 'can I be given a library card?' She told me that I needed a rates or electricity bill .Just anything addressed to you here in the local area.I said I didn't have anything. She asked me again 'Do you rent or own a house?'I own a house but it is under my husband's name. She said 'Don't worry'. I told her my husband's name, birthday and my address. She gave my information to a person who was a council worker. The council worker entered my information in the computer. My information was all right. So the librarian gave me a library card at once. I felt that they were really trying to help me.

By the way, I will also talk about my feelings when I just came to Australia. When I went shopping in my county or NZ, nobody checked my bags. In Australia, when I went shopping, the shop assisant checked my bags. I felt very bad as if I wasn't being respected. After, I realised that they are authorized to check anyone's shopping bag or big bags, but they can't check the customer's handbag. Last Thursday evening, I went to Priceline in Hurstville train station, where my daughter does part-time work. I just told her 'I'll pick you up, I'll go to Coles first.' Then I went out. The security guard who stood out the door checked my handbag. Althought I showed my handbag to him I was very angry. I said you shouldn't check my handbag. At the time I thought I would complain about him to his manager. the next day, I took my son to play basketball in Hurstville Aquatic centre. I met my friend who had studied the Retail course. I told her about the day before. She said if your handbag was over A4, they are authorised to check your handbag. My handbag is over A4, so he checked my handbag. Now I am not angry.

Firecrackers

Firecrackers are a small explosive device. When they are lighted they will produce a large noise.

Their size varies from 2cm to 30cm or over. They are a cylinder and usually are made with red paper or multicolored paper. They have fuses and are wrapped in heavy paper casing to contain the explosive compound.

Chinese people have used them for more than a thousand years. Firecrackers are used at events such as opening of business, Chinese New Year, marriages and funerals etc. They were used do derive away evil spirits in ancient China. In modern time, they are mostly used during the festive season.

Burning of firecrackers is a Chinese tradition. It is passed down from ancient China to today.

My First Day in Australia

I was excited to go to Australia with my children, my sister and her children on 14 February 2001. I arrived to Australia during dusk. When I went out from the airport, I felt hot and humid. My brother-in-law picked us up. He came to Australia one week before us. He took us to his unit, which he had rented one week before.

We talked about the difference between NZ and Australia on the way home. I saw the streets were very narrow, many houses were made with tiles. There were many units in Australia, and here transport is convenient. After about 30 mins we arrived home. We organized our sleeping area, and discussed our plans for the future. We were excited about our new life. We didn’t sleep until very late.

I knew I would do many things a few days later. Such as, my children would enrol in school, rent a house, go to the bank, apply for a tax number, and receive our shipment…. I was very happy to do these because this was the start of our new life. I hoped my children would have a better education and future in Australia.

The Stolen Generations

Aboriginal children were taken to the institutions or fostered by non-Aboriginal families in the mid 1800s-1970s.

This is a sad history in Australia. Aboriginal children could not grow up in their families. This was traumatic to the children and their families. The children who left their parents maybe were abused in physical sexual and emotional ways.I think this is a wrong history. The government should say sorry to Aboriginal people The same thing should not happen in the future anywhere in th world.
